ZDF 스튜디오와 카스탈리아, 삼성 TV 플러스에서 범죄 채널 ‘크리멘 ZDF’ 론칭

독일 공영방송 ZDF의  자회사인 ZDF 스튜디오(ZDF Studios)와 글로벌 미디어 개발사 카스탈리아 커뮤니케이션즈(Castalia Communications Corporation)가 2025년 4월 30일, 범죄 전문 채널 ‘크리멘 ZDF(Crimen ZDF)’를 선보인다.

이 채널은 미국과 라틴아메리카의 스페인어권 시청자를 타깃으로 하는 FAST(Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) 채널로, 유럽산 범죄, 스릴러, 미스터리 시리즈를 편성한다. 크리멘 ZDF는 총 300시간 분량의 콘텐츠를 보유하고 있으며, 삼성 TV 플러스 멕시코(Samsung TV Plus Mexico)를 통해 제공된다.

ZDF 스튜디오와 카스탈리아 커뮤니케이션즈의 이번 FAST 채널 공동 개발 계획은 지난 2023년 10월 처음 공개됐다. 이번 협력을 통해 ZDF 스튜디오 카탈로그의 프로그램들이 미국과 라틴아메리카 내 히스패닉 시청자들을 대상으로 스페인어 버전으로 서비스된다.

ZDF 스튜디오의 드라마 디렉터인 수잔네 프랑크(Susanne Frank)는 “우리가 가장 성공을 거둔 유럽 장르 드라마들을 FAST 채널을 통해 미주 지역 시청자들에게 선보일 수 있게 되어 기쁘다. 특히 라틴아메리카 스페인어 더빙은 이번이 처음”이라며 소감을 전했다.

카스탈리아 커뮤니케이션즈의 사장인 루이스 토레스-보홀(Luis Torres-Bohl)은 “우리는 유럽 특유의 분위기와 색채가 살아 있는 매력적이고 상징적인 시리즈를 엄선했다. 이는 미국과 라틴아메리카 지역에서 기존에 접하던 콘텐츠와는 차별화된다”라며, “이미 유럽 콘텐츠에 익숙하고 더 많은 작품을 원하는 시청자들은 물론이고, 새롭고 프리미엄급 시리즈를 찾는 이들에게도 크게 어필할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

한편, 채널의 모든 콘텐츠 더빙을 맡은 업체로는 스페인어 더빙 및 자막 서비스 제공사인 카알리오페(Caaliope)가 선정됐다. 카알리오페의 CEO 카를로스 산체스(Carlos Sánchez)는 “현지 언어 더빙은 시청자 경험의 핵심 요소이며, 라틴아메리카 스페인어로 작업함으로써 콘텐츠의 품질이 더욱 높아진다”고 강조했다.

ZDF Studios and Castalia Launch ‘Crimen ZDF’ Crime Channel on Samsung TV Plus

ZDF Studios, a commercial subsidiary of the German public broadcaster ZDF, and global media development firm Castalia Communications Corporation are introducing a new crime-focused channel, Crimen ZDF, on April 30, 2025.

A FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channel, Crimen ZDF will target Spanish-speaking audiences across the United States and Latin America, offering European crime, thriller, and mystery series. The channel debuts with 300 hours of content and will be available via Samsung TV Plus Mexico.

The collaboration between ZDF Studios and Castalia Communications to develop this FAST channel was first announced in October 2023. Through this partnership, ZDF Studios’ catalog of programs will be provided in Spanish for Hispanic viewers in the U.S. and Latin America.

“We are delighted to bring some of our most successful European procedural dramas to audiences across the Americas through a FAST channel, for the very first time dubbed into Latin American Spanish,” said Susanne Frank, Director of Drama at ZDF Studios.

Luis Torres-Bohl, President of Castalia Communications, noted, “We’ve selected captivating and iconic series that showcase Europe’s unique atmosphere and style, setting them apart from typical offerings in the U.S. and Latin America. This lineup will appeal to both viewers already familiar with European content who are eager for more, and newcomers seeking premium programming.”

All content on the channel is being dubbed by Caaliope, a Spanish-language dubbing and subtitling provider. Carlos Sánchez, CEO of Caaliope, emphasized, “Localization is a key component of the viewer experience, and dubbing in Latin American Spanish takes the content quality to a higher level.”
