highlighting the agency's K-content innovation and global collaboration, and pitching Westworld Story-produced K-drama "FACE ME
The Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) will host a special session titled "K-Content: Create the future, Innovate with content" at MIPCOM 2024, the world's largest entertainment content market. The session will take place on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at AUDI K, Palais des Festivals.
On-site screenings - GCA is the first non-governmental, regionally-focused content promotion organization to host a special session at MIPCOM. The GCA is a Gyeonggi-do-based organization established to support and foster content companies and industries in the Gyeonggi region of South Korea.
'Gyeonggi is the Heart of K-Content Creative'
Gyeonggi Province is a key industrial region in South Korea that surrounds the capital Seoul.(Its name, Gyeonggi, means "京 (the capital) and 畿 (the surrounding area)". Thus, Gyeonggi-do can be translated as "Seoul and the surrounding areas of Seoul)
It is called "The Heart of Korean K-Content Creative," and its content industry sales account for 30% of the country's total. As of 2022, Gyeonggi-do's content industry sales are expected to reach KRW 35 trillion, or about 6.5% of the province's gross regional product (GRDP).
In particular, the Gyeonggi region plays an important role in the ecosystem for the globalization of K-content, including K-content creation, production, and distribution.
The special session at MIPCOM 2024 is part of GCA's overseas promotion of the industry. The GCA sees this event as an important opportunity to promote Gyeonggi-do's content on the world stage and strengthen global cooperation.
The session will take the form of a roundtable with Lim Yirang, Head of Global Marketing at GCA, Alex OE, former Chief of Co-Production and Partnerships at Discovery Studios, and Kim Na-young, CEO of Westworld Story.
First, the GCA and the Gyeonggi content industry will be introduced.
The GCA operates various support programs to expand the influence of K-content in the global market based on the creativity and technology of the content industry.
GCA works with various Content industry insiders such as content producers, distributors, and investors to help K-content go global, and provides a wide range of services such as content IP development, market entry strategies, and business matching. In 2024, the organization will actively promote Gyeonggi-do's content companies in various global B2B markets.

<Face Me> is already generating a lot of interest as it showcases the future of visual storytelling based on cutting-edge VFX technology. WWS is a subsidiary of Westworld, South Korea's largest VFX entertainment technology company, both of which are located in Gyeonggi Province.
CGA unveils plans to boost content support and international engagement
GCA will also showcase WWS <Unsolved> which was selected for the 2024 K-Content Film Planning and Development Support Program, to further strengthen GCA's content support business and international exchange collaboration.
The GCA plans to strengthen cooperation with the international entertainment industry through a special session at MIPCOM to further support Gyeonggi-based content companies and the global expansion of K-content.
As this is the first time in history that a local content promotion organization in Korea has held its own planning session at MIPCOM, the GCA plans to take this opportunity to continue its leading role in the global content industry. "GCA is an incubating hub for the global expansion of K-content, providing various support programs and networks, and is at the center of the development of the K-content industry," said Lim Yirang, head of GCA's Global Marketing Team.
"The special session will be an opportunity to directly introduce innovative K-content that is attracting great attention in the global market and GCA's support efforts."
Following MemeCom2024, the GCA will continue to participate in major domestic and international content and industry exhibitions, including TCCF in Taiwan in November and ATF in Singapore in December, to support the global promotion of K-content as the 'heart of K-content creation'.
At TCCF, the largest content industry exhibition in Taiwan, the Gyeonggi Content Agency will promote content IP companies in Gyeonggi Province and promote collaboration with the Taiwan Content Agency.
