Overcoming the Limits of 1970s Technology for 2030s Aircraft

It's not uncommon for a drone to suddenly drop from a formation lighting up the night sky, or for a drone in flight to experience unexplained malfunctions. The problem is that when a drone falls from high altitude, it's difficult to avoid serious damage. People nearby could be injured, and surrounding structures could be damaged. However, WEFLO's AI-powered drone inspection platform can detect potential malfunctions within seconds before takeoff. No elaborate procedures are required—simply place the drone on a pad.

Kim Eui-jung, CEO of WEFLO, highlighted the severity of the current situation: "Electric motors consist of coils and bearings that require very precise inspection, but currently only visual inspection is possible. WEFLO has overcome the limitations of visual inspections that take several hours. The system automates inspection checklists according to the requirements of each institution and company, preventing any inspection items from being missed. Kim stated confidently, "WEFLO's only competitor is humans," adding, "We haven't found any similar concept competitors for three and a half years, and we don't know why. WEFLO can reduce labor costs and time while maximizing efficiency and accuracy."

Patented Magnetic Field Sensing Technology with No Competitors for 3.5 Years

WEFLO's core technology analyzes the magnetic fields and sounds generated by drones. The system operates drones at approximately 30% capacity to collect various signals. After completing the inspection in a short time just before takeoff, it allows the drone to be used if no problems are detected. WEFLO collects magnetic field information using its patented magnetic field sensing system and adds sound information to determine whether the drone is operating normally. It then performs AI diagnostics based on big data.

The biggest advantage of WEFLO's solution is that it performs automatic inspections in a non-contact manner. It automatically inspects 14 items related to the aircraft's stability and driving components with 98% accuracy. It uses the analyzed data to predict maintenance timing, checking the performance of specific parts and indicating when maintenance should be performed. WEFLO's malfunction detection accuracy reaches 99.5-99.8% according to TTA (Telecommunications Technology Association) certification standards.

WEFLO's flagship product, "Verti-Pit," is a smart landing pad with embedded sensors that automatically collects physical data such as sound, vibration, and electromagnetic waves as soon as a drone lands. WEFLO's AI dashboard analyzes the collected data to diagnose the exact condition of each component, including motors, blades, and ESCs (electronic speed controllers), and predicts 14 types of malfunctions within 1 second by comparing them to normal conditions. This provides predictive maintenance information such as "the motor needs to be replaced within 3 months." CEO Kim emphasized, "To use an analogy, this is like a doctor's diagnostic solution—a predictive maintenance solution to prevent tragic accidents."

WEFLO's drone inspection platform is divided into three main categories: "Verti-Pit mini," a portable platform; "Verti-Pit," for general use; and "Verti-Pit QC," which can be utilized during the manufacturing stage. The Verti-Pit mini has the advantage of being easily portable and won the CES Innovation Award (Drones category) at CES 2025, gaining global recognition for its technology.

Additionally, WEFLO has developed "VAIS," an AI vision-based vehicle inspection solution. VAIS inspects external damage that may occur during vehicle pickup and return, or before and after repairs. The inspection is completed instantly as the vehicle slowly passes through the inspection area, and WEFLO explains that this technology can also be applied to aircraft inspection.

Hanwha Systems Spinoff Validates Technology Through Government and Military Projects

WEFLO is a startup that spun off from Hanwha Systems, South Korea's largest defense industry company, in 2022. The company provides AI diagnostic solutions for all types of mobility powered by electric motors, including drones, air taxis (eVTOLs), and electric vehicles. WEFLO is currently securing empirical data through ongoing projects with the South Korean government and military, and is also supplying solutions for comprehensive drone inspection projects in local governments such as Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Gartner Top 9 Selection and U.S. Investors Say "Perfect Fit for the Market"

위플로의 핵심 기술은 드론이 발생시키는 자기장과 소리를 분석하는 것이다. 위플로는 드론을 30% 정도만 작동시켜 각종 신호를 수집한다. 이륙 직전 짧은 시간 안에 검사를 마친 후 문제가 없으면 드론을 사용하게 도와주는 방식이다. 위플로는 자체 특허를 낸 자기장 센싱 시스템으로 자기장 정보를 수집하고 여기에 소리 정보까지 더해 드론이 정상 작동하고 있는지 파악한다. 이후 빅데이터 기반으로 AI 진단을 수행한다.
