NEW ID Widens K-Content Supply to FAST With AI Dubbing

NEW ID uses its in-house AI dubbing tech, DUBBLE, to bring Korean films and dramas to global FAST channels in English and Spanish. It runs nine of 20 channels in Korea's K-FAST program. "Dubbing is a key element in increasing monetization," said CEO June Park.

NEW ID (뉴아이디) is using DUBBLE, its in-house AI dubbing technology, to convert Korean films and dramas into English and Spanish for global FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) channels.

The company was named the top channel operator in the AI Dubbing-Specialized K-FAST Expansion Support Project run by Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (과학기술정보통신부) and the Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT, 한국정보통신진흥협회). Of the 20 channels built under the program by six consortia, the NEW ID-led group operates nine, or 37%.

One premium and eight flagship channels, 520-plus hours dubbed

The nine channels comprise one premium channel carrying more than 200 hours of dubbed content and eight flagship channels with at least 40 hours each, for a total of more than 520 hours. The consortium brings together nine content companies, including CJ ENM, KT ENA, KT Studio Genie (KT스튜디오지니), MBN, Showbox (쇼박스), K-Movie Entertainment (케이무비엔터테인먼트), Finecut (화인컷), Lotte Cultureworks (롯데컬처웍스) and Contents Panda (콘텐츠판다), with three technology partners: Gaudio Lab (가우디오랩), Stra (스트라) and Vbridge (비브리지).

The dubbing runs on DUBBLE. Instead of voice actors recording in a studio, the platform translates dialogue with AI and generates the voices itself, telling apart the different characters in a film, drama or variety show and rendering their emotions. Specialists prepare each title before the AI pass so the emotional delivery carries over.

90% of K-FAST channels, 1.5 billion minutes a month

NEW ID says it operates 90% of K-FAST channels worldwide. Those channels log more than 1.5 billion minutes (25 million hours) of viewing a month, and more than 40 million households watch NEW ID's Korean programming each month. The company received Korea's $3 million Export Tower award in 2025.

“Dubbing is a key element in increasing monetization,” said CEO June Park (박준경). “Thanks to Korean government support, we can now offer nine premium content FAST channels in complete English and Spanish versions.”

Park said dubbing had long been out of reach for Korean titles. “Serving content with dubbing was very difficult, and human dubbing cost so much that we hardly dared to try,” she said. “With DUBBLE, our experts do the preparatory work carefully, so the emotion comes through. It is already in service overseas, and we have confirmed that viewing time differs by as much as 10 times before and after dubbing.”

Park framed the next phase around infrastructure rather than titles. “Our value lies not in the content itself, but in the technology infrastructure and solutions that enable content to move globally,” she said, adding that the company aims to turn ad breaks into “Shoppable Breaks,” with QR codes that let viewers buy products on screen, and that its short-term goal is to triple revenue.

K-FAST reaches 22 countries, 100 million viewers in five months

Across the program, about 1,200 titles (1,400 hours) were dubbed into English, Spanish and Portuguese in 2025, and 20 FAST channels were built. The channels rolled out from November 2025 on Samsung TV Plus and LG Channels in 22 countries, including the U.S., Canada and Mexico. By the end of April 2026 they had reached 100 million cumulative viewers, according to figures the ministry and KAIT released on July 9, 2026.

This year the ministry selected three more consortia — Hudson AI (허드슨에이아이), ESTsoft (이스트소프트) and Un AI (언에이아이) — to build four new AI-dubbed channels, with about 230 million won ($160,000) in support for each. The new genres are vertical drama, K-beauty and K-dance. Membership in the Global K-FAST Alliance has grown from 22 companies at launch to 82.
