Disney+ Japan Secures Exclusive TVING Content Deal as Streaming Wars Heat Up in Asia's Largest Market

CJ ENM partnership brings 60 Korean originals to Japanese subscribers, marking TVING's international debut

The Walt Disney Company Japan has inked a multi-year content partnership with South Korean entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM that will make Disney+ the exclusive Japanese home for up to 60 original series from TVING, CJ ENM's flagship streaming platform.

The deal, announced Monday in Tokyo, represents a significant strategic bet by both companies as they seek to gain ground against Netflix in Japan — the Asia-Pacific region's most valuable and competitive streaming market. For TVING, the agreement marks its first international expansion beyond South Korea.

Under the partnership, Disney+ Japan will roll out a curated slate of TVING originals and CJ ENM's most popular Korean dramas, including beloved hits such as "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" (known internationally as "Goblin") and the nostalgia-driven phenomenon "Reply 1988." The rollout launches November 6 with "Dear X," a romantic comedy starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae and Kim Do-hoon, which will stream simultaneously in both Korea and Japan.
