Second on both H1 counts at 1.9 billion minutes and 7 million season views… but the published metrics and the retention rate (완주율) that decides renewals have come apart

Disney+ has canceled the second season of Marvel's Wonder Man, four months after publicly ordering it in March. A Season 2 writers' room was never opened.

The basis for the decision was retention rate (완주율) and cost per minute streamed. Over the first 12 weeks, 52% of the viewers who started the season reached the finale — one point under the 53% floor Luminate's slate analysis identifies as the point where a new Disney+ series is considered safe from cancellation. At a $70 million midpoint budget, the cost-per-minute-streamed ratio came to 0.041.

Reach was not the shortfall. In Luminate's tally Wonder Man S1 ranked second among U.S. Disney+ originals in the first half of 2026 on both counts — 1.9 billion minutes streamed and an estimated 7 million season views — trailing Daredevil: Born Again S2 at 2.3 billion minutes and The Punisher: One Last Kill S1 at 12.2 million views, beaten only by other Marvel titles.
